Week 15 Blog post

This week out group did our practice presentation. Our practice presentation went very well. I believe there is more tweaking that we need to do with transitions and better movement while screen sharing. Our group will be practicing our presentation multiple times early next week before our presentation on Wednesday. I think that we went over the right information for the most part but feel that we could put our topics into a better order and be able to sew it together better.

For my contribution this week I introduce our project and I looked back over the website to kind of make a list f what we need to complete or revise. I also made a layout of what everyone should say and then I asked everyone to make their own speech based on the outline. Everyone liked what we had setup and we all made one outline together and it works very well. I have been working on my own time going over my piece, especially transitioning and I hope and believe that the rest of the group is as well. The group has been working hard and working well together, I can’t wait to see how the presentation goes.

This week was good in general as we went through the practice presentation. The stuff we did in the days leading up to it was very helpful and everyone did their part. We will be doing another run through on our own to make sure we’re ready and work out any rough spots we run into. Unfortunately one of our group members wasn’t able to make it to the practice presentation, so we won’t know what it’ll be like to have all 5 of us until we do our second run through. This isn’t too big of a deal even though the 4 of us went to about 14 minutes. We should be able to work with it and know what we need to do to shorten the time.

For me personally, I’ll probably work more on the telling of a story. This is something we talked about after the practice was over, and decided it would be best to revolve things around that. With limited content because of the circumstances it’s not exactly an in depth story, but there are some noteworthy things to tell and it’s enough to create a solid presentation I’d say. I look forward to it.

This week our group just worked on getting our project fully ready to turn in and present. We wanted to be done so we can have plenty of time to practice before we present a couple. This project really was fun to do and our group had pretty much no problems. We haven’t quite figured out who is going to say what but when we get our practice in we will figure all that out.

For my participation I did the whole website. I really enjoy that type of thing so it really was not bad. I don’t think there is all that much I would change in this whole thing. We had a perfect group and so it made the whole semester pretty easy. The only challenge we really ran into was this while Covid situation but there’s not much we could do about that

After all these weeks of planning, we took the time to put together a site and upload the content we were able to get from the beginning of the semester. On top of this we took some self-interviewed videos, vlogs basically, and edited some of the golf sim clips. I think this was a great idea because it allowed us to express more on our experience with golf rather than just writing an essay or something. It also gave us more content to use, so it all worked out pretty well I’d say.

It’s crazy how fast things have gone ever since quarantine was issued, but we’re finally getting to that point of finishing our project and preparing our presentation. This will probably happen over the weekend, and then the actual practice next week. We also divided tasks out to each other very well. For me personally, my job has me out working till early evening and so it’s hard for me to put a ton of time into homework but I was able to do my part. I think Josh was the one who put together the website and he did a great job with that, and everybody else was flexible and easy to work with during our time finishing the project.

Week 14 Blog Post

This is our final week before we practice our presentation. This week we have been putting our final touches on the website and are beginning to practice our presentation. We are practicing our parts on our own right now and then over this weekend we will be working together to mesh our parts together so it can flow perfectly. This week all of us finished filming our interviews and edited our own interviews to what we want them to be. Each interview is like a bio of our past experience with golf and what our group experience was like.

This week was a big contribution week from everyone. For my part I did a lot of work for my interview but for the whole group I did a big part in making our page about the basic rules and history of golf. This was a fun part to do because I learned stuff about golf that I didn’t even know about. I feel like for the video I would of liked to had been able to have an actual camera but because of my availability to one I had to settle with my laptop webcam. This has actually been a fun week of working because I love making and editing videos.

Week 13 Blog

Although we will not be taking part in the practice presentations, at least as planned, we still have been preparing as if we will be. As we discussed in our zoom meeting on Tuesday, we have many, if not all, of our pieces in place for our project but we have still yet to really put it all together quite yet. I’m not worried however since everyone knows what has to be done and everyone knows their responsibilities and it’s just a matter of getting it all together at this point. I don’t think we really need a ton of help from faculty as we have most o I f it taken care of, but as we piece it together questions may come up. We each had our own role during filming, so we will each discuss what our own individual responsibility was in getting it done.

This week we all worked on our interviews and put them in the collaborative Box folder and that was really the only media we had left to do. I was included in this, and it was a little strange having to do an interview at my own place by myself but it all worked out in the end. It just felt more awkward than anything, but doing the video and mobile modules prepared me for it.

Week 13 Blog

What our team needs to do is simply designate some time this week to getting our website ready to go. Each one of us sort of has our own deadlines to meet and things to get done, and once we have everything, it’s just a matter of getting it onto the website. I feel good about our idea and the content we have, so now it is just a matter of putting it together like we want it, and putting it all together on the website. We have most of what we need and can very easily get everything else we need, it’s just a matter now of making one final push and getting it ready to present. My plan is to film my interview this weekend and have my video/interview edited together by the time the weekend is over so we can designate a ton of time throughout next week to putting the site together, rather than scrambling for content. I think each one of us will probably present on our own individual segments or levels that will be included on the website.

This week’s contribution was further planning, specifically on getting our interviews filmed, as well as the days and time we are going to designate to putting the site together.

Week 12 Blog

Right now, we have a really good plan for our site. Thanks to our being proactive and getting content early on in this project, we have most of what we need. We did have to alter our plan slightly for the goal of our project. Before everything happened, our plan was to tell the story of each one of us learning how to golf, meeting several times throughout the course of the semester and developing our game as a team, as well as individuals. After all of this happened, we’ve decided to alter our plan and make our website tell the story of our golf “careers” up to this point in our lives, and what we learned after having had a golf lesson with our instructor. In terms of getting content, the only thing we have left to do is film our individual interviews telling our own stories, and then it’s just a matter of putting everything together.

Over the past couple weeks, everyone’s contribution to the group has come by way of ideas and communication/planning about how we are going to get this done, and done well with the circumstances we are under. The group has been very proactive and everyone has done a good job of contributing ideas, and I feel good about where we are right now.

Unfourtunately I wasn’t able to attend this weeks meeting on Tuesday but I’m getting myself filled in on what I missed and working from there. Last week, we decided that we would conduct interviews with each other this week. However, this will only really work with those that are still in Lincoln, but I’m sure we could probably work something out with the guys that are out of state. This was one idea I had just in case we need more content for our website, but I’m sure with the content we got when class was in-person plus the interviews it will be plenty.

I’ve been thinking about the overall goal of this project, and even though things have been more difficult in my opinion when classes went online I think that we can still learn something about golf no matter where we are in the sport. We were never able to hit the range, but from the golf sim experience I was more or less open-minded afterwards and realized how difficult the sport actually is. I think I’d like to talk more in-depth about this in the interviews, and it’ll be the stage in which I’m at. For guys like Zach and Dane they’ll be at a more advanced stage, but nonetheless we can all get something out of it.

Blog Post 4/10/20

This week we were able to get a lot more done than we have in the past mostly because we were all on the zoom call this week. I think that we had some good communication and afterward some of us stuck around to talk about future plans.

Some of those plans include adding all of us to a google doc with all of our content on the document. That way we can see what we have to work with and choose who edits and stuff. I think from there we’ll figure out who’s going to edit and post the content on our website. I don’t think we’ll actually start working on the website till we’re comfortable with the content we have.

Some of us stayed in town after school went online and we’re going to meet up and do some interviews. It’s the best we can do as of now to get some more content, and we’ll be sure to stay a good distance away as we conduct the interviews.
